Joining MIPLA

 
Membership in MIPLA is open to:
  1. Any lawyer admitted to the Bar of any State of the United States or the District of Columbia and actively engaged in the practice of intellectual property law
  2. Any persons registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
  3. Any person who is enrolled in an ABA accredited law school who professes an interest in the practice of intellectual property law
  4. Any person who is actively practicing as a paralegal in the field of intellectual property law
  5. Any person who is actively engaged in the provision of intellectual property related services

Members who join after January 1 of the current membership year will receive a pro-rated membership rate for the duration of the current membership year.

Membership Types

Individual Member
This membership is for individual attorneys, intellectual property paralegals, and intellectual property service providers and is available as either an auto-renew or a member-renew rate structure. Individual membership offers free or discounted access to MIPLA networking events and professional development opportunities, leadership positions, access to our directory, and member-only emails.
Organizational Membership
This membership is for law firms and other organizations who prefer to manage all of their memberships through one account! Organizational memberships are available for any number of members and the seats are transferable within organizations. We have 5-seat and 10-seat options below. If your organization needs a different number of seats, contact our office and we can provide you with an organizational membership having the number of seats that you need. Organizational membership is auto-renewed. Individuals included in the organizational membership get the same MIPLA membership benefits as individual members, above.
Student Member
This membership is for students who are currently pursuing a law degree. Student members are exempt from payment of dues. Student members get the same MIPLA membership benefits as individual members, described above, except those of voting, holding elective office and serving on a committee.
Emeritus Member
this membership is for individuals no longer engaged in the active practice of intellectual property law or in active practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Emeritus membership can be granted upon written application to, and approval by, the Board of Directors. Emeritus members are entitled to all MIPLA membership benefits as individual members, described above, except those of holding elective office and serving on a committee. See Article III, Section 4 of the MIPLA By-laws for the full requirements. Emeritus members are exempt from payment of dues. Please contact our office to apply for emeritus membership.
