Dear MIPLA Members and Prospective MIPLA Members,

I want to thank Hallie Finucane for her dedication and excellent service to MIPLA as President in 2010-2011, which is evident in many ways, especially by how active the organization and its committees have been this last year.

I also want to thank Debbie Norton, who is MIPLA’s Associate Director.  Debbie is often the initial contact person for the organization, assists in membership applications and renewals, assists in coordinating and organizing events, and provides many other valuable services for MIPLA.

To continue along Hallie’s path, I encourage the committees, which relate to various areas of intellectual property, to continue providing CLEs and social events.  These events provide opportunities for education and networking at little to no cost to its members.  I also encourage our members to be active in participating in these events so that we can continue to increase the momentum and provide additional events.

If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact Debbie Norton.  Also, if you are interested in helping a chair/co-chair of a committee organize an event, or if you have an idea for an event, please contact either the chair/co-chair or me.  To view a list of committees, please click on the Committees tab on the left.

Upcoming events are posted on our website (please click on the Events Calendar tab on the left) and in our New Matter publications.  Please also watch for e-mail notices regarding upcoming events.

MIPLA has provided numerous educational and networking opportunities for me since I became a member during my third year of law school.  MIPLA has been instrumental in assisting me to grow professionally, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as MIPLA President in 2011-2012.  I am looking forward to another active year!
